About the University of Rochester

Located in Rochester New York, URMC is a major academic institution providing primary and tertiary health care to patients from central and western NY State. It ranks in the top 25% of medical schools in NIH funding and has received the Outstanding Community Service Award from the AAMC for its community outreach clinical and research programs. URMC has a state of the art research space totaling over 420,000 sq ft that houses both basic and clinical research groups.

Especially Needed

Individuals with active AD or who have outgrown AD and also have a history of widespread herpes virus skin infection (also called eczema herpeticum), molluscum contagiosum (pearly wart-like skin lesions), or eczema vaccinatum (adverse reaction to smallpox vaccination).

Even though we are enrolling people regardless of race and ethnicity, we have a special need to enroll African Americans in these studies because African Americans may be at a greater risk.  This risk may be related to a different genetic background.
